this is the bearing stack that comes out of the rotor/hub assembly after removing the snap ring and outer wheel bearing.

traditonally, its not easy to attach a 6'x16' body to a frame that is not much bigger than a 6' tall person, and have it hold up at highway speeds. outlined below is how the MIT Solar Electric Vehicle Team attaches the aerobody/array to the chassis.

the adjustable gap mechanism can be seen here. since the bearings slide on teh spindle, they produce gouges, making it vvery diffficult to reassemble.

here is the inside of the NGM adjustable gap motor. dont take it apart if you dont have to.
