1/8 scale model of a shape similar to the Third Degree Burner in crosswind configuration. Tufts near the bubble show turbulent/separated flow, although complete separation would have the tufts flipped over each other. Tufts near the edge also show that in crosswinds the shape has uneven downward lift.

Determined to pass scruitineering for Sunrayce 99, the Stanford 3DB team took whatever steps necessary to impress those holding the key to the race.

During scruitineering of Sunrayce 99, a webcam was setup to send relatively live images back to the teams' home town fans. Here you see the Stanford Third Degree Burner round a corner of the qualifing track.

Here are the old molds used for the Stanford Afterburner series and Third Degree burner cars. The molds were machined from high density foam and put on aluminum torsion boxes.
