SunDragon Description The first solar car, the SunDragon, was built to compete in the GM Sunrayce USA. This race lasted for eleven days and 1,800 miles beginning at Orlando, Florida, and ending at Warren, Michigan. With an average distance per day of approximately 145 miles with the longest being 204 miles, the SunDragon finished the race in eleventh place in a field of thirty-two cars. This finish was very well received by the Drexel community noting that the SunDragon Team's budget was approximately 1/3 of the 10th place car and 1/10 of the winning car's budgets. With the success of the SunDragon, a new team set out to construct an improved version. |
